Creative Writing – Story Idea

by MartinFister on Dec.31, 2008, under Writing

So I haven’t written over break (it seems it’s been a literary break for better or worse), but I did brew up a new idea while in the shower the other day (I won’t include pics of that for your sake). I probably won’t ever write it but it might surface during a dead spot [...]

Breaking the First Dimension

by MartinFister on Dec.28, 2008, under Social

I saw the movie Green Mile the other day (that is to say, a month ago as this was written a while back) and couldn’t get over how one dimensional one of the guards was. His purpose in the movie was to be mean and to do as many cruel and degrading things to instill [...]

This week’s writing experience would just [...]

The Variable Foot – Speaking as an Art Form

by MartinFister on Dec.14, 2008, under Literature

William Carlos Williams devised his variable foot poetry form in a selfish manner. Basically, he decided to ignore standard meter and used what sounded right to his ear. This works fine in your head, until someone else reads it with a different style and it loses all of its flow and delivery.
Why do I bring [...]

Hello World!

by MartinFister on Dec.14, 2008, under General

This is my attempt at starting a blog. Does it have a topic? No. I mostly just wanted a place to consolidate random thoughts I have about random things and this seemed like a good way to solidify them. Plus, I had started reading a friend’s blog and found it interesting so I figured I [...]
